Five Ways to Creatively Spruce Up Your Garden

“A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust.” – Gertrude Jekyll

Gardens add a whole lot to a home when it comes to aesthetic value and visual appeal. It makes your front yard look incredibly welcoming and gorgeous and it some cases; it complements the architecture of a home. Surrounding homes with foliage and landscaping it with various plant life may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it certainly would bring an ounce of personality and charm to any home. If your garden is getting rather wild, it might be time to do some sprucing up. Regardless of whether you are living in high park or senta, here are various ways to give your garden a nice little face lift.

1.) Use unorthodox pots for plants

Instead of hanging little pots from fences and walls, why not make use of the junk you already have that is accumulating in your homes? Use old handbags, old shoes or even drawers from unwanted furniture as makeshift pots for your plants. It is a nifty and unconventional way to insert a bit of personality into your gardens. Just make sure the items you utilize are still presentable, though!

2.) Do a little spring cleaning

More often than not, in order to bring out our garden’s true beauty, all it would need is a little spring cleaning and a bit of weeding. Dedicate a weekend to uprooting dead weeds, changing old and broken pots, trimming the bushes and throwing out the dead plants. You will be surprised how simply cleaning your garden can give it an instant upgrade.

3.) Light it up

One way to make your garden come to life—especially at nighttime is to strategically install garden lightings and position them in ways that would enhance the beauty of your garden. With the right kind of light, you can dress up a garden or even create an instant atmosphere that would make the transition from a day garden to a night one incredibly arresting.

4.) Conceal the ugly stuff

Stuff that does not really belong in your garden but is necessary should be concealed. Things such as compost bins, water butts, garden tools, stacks of gardening fertilizer can be an eyesore and can be distracting. If you do not have a tool shed or garden shed available, then plant tall plants or shrubs that would conceal these items from plain view.

5.) Install some furniture

To make your gardens even more inviting, install lawn chairs or even garden furniture. It would be a great way to complement the overall landscape of your garden and would also be an excellent alternative dining area for Sunday lunches, afternoon teas and the like. Having some garden furniture would also allow you to receive your guests in a fashionable manner. To make sure it remains cool, make sure you place your garden furniture beneath a shady tree or install a tent or utilize fabric above it.
