Audi is by far one of the most sought after brands in the automobile industry and has always excelled in producing some of the most formidable vehicles in the world. The German car maker has been doing quite well in the Indian market as well with its low to mid-range of products including the A Series line up. However customers do tend to get confused in terms of which variant of the car they should go far. The same conundrum remains with the likes of Audi A3 and Audi A4. The latter of the two is definitely the more expensive of the two but the additional features worth the extra dough? Let us find out.
1. Appearance :
To be honest, there is not much of a difference between Audi A3 and A4 when it comes to design and the basic structure of the car. In fact, both the cars may seem almost identical to an untrained eye. However the Audi A4 is slightly bigger in size compared to the A3. Dimensionally, Audi A4 has a length of 4701mm, a width of 2040mm and a height of 1427mm whereas the Audi A3 comes with a length of 4456mm, a width of 1960mm and a height of 1416mm.
Audi A4 also has more color options although at the end of the day the customer has to buy only 1. There are 7 color choices for Audi A4 including Ibis White, Dakota Grey Metallic, Teak Brown Metallic, Scuba Blue Metallic, Floret Silver Metallic and Mythos Black. Audi A3 has 6 colors on offer including Beluga Brown Metallic, Misano Red Pearl Effect, Brilliant Black, Glacier White Metallic, Floret Silver Metallic and Scuba Blue Metallic. Both the cars are quite beautiful and expensive but customers can buy used Audi A4 in Delhi.
The interiors of both the cars are beautifully decorated with leather seats and chrome handles. However Audi A4 is slightly more spacious and roomy compared to the A3.
2. Engine :
In terms of engine specifications, both Audi A3 and A4 are almost at par but the latter does have more firepower in terms of power and torque. Both the luxury sedans come loaded with a 2 litre TDI Diesel engine that has a displacement of 1968cc. Further both the cars use four cylinders of four valves each. However A4 is tuned differently from the A3 and produces higher power and torque. Audi A4 gives away 174.33bhp power at 4200rpm along with a torque of 380Nm at 1750 to 2500rpm. Audi A3 on the other hand gives away 143bhp power at 3500 to 4000rpm along with 320Nm torque at 1750 to 3000rpm.
The transmission system also differs for both the cars with Audi A4 working with an 8 speed automatic transmission system whereas the A3 using the 6 speed automatic transmission system. The Audi A4 is obviously a little demanding on the pocket for the extra features but customers can buy used Audi A4 in Delhi for a lower price.
In terms of performance, Audi A3 can go from 0-100kmph in a time span of 8.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 215kmph. Audi A4 on the other hand reaches a top speed of 222kmph and can accelerate from a standstill to a 100kmph in just 7.9 seconds. So you definitely see the rewards of spending more on the Audi A4 as it does deliver superior performance in terms of power and torque along with speed and stability. There is one section where the Audi A3 does take away the cake and that is in the section of mileage. Audi A3 can deliver a fuel economy of 18.08kmpl whereas Audi A4 works with 13.28kmph.
