Taxi Association dominating Ola and Uber through Uber Clone for drivers

In today’s modern era,  technology has been changing day after day and this has not only changed the society but our way of living in it as well. Everything in the world today is becoming digitalized from bus and cars to huge shopping malls. Gone are those days where people would have to come on the roads and call out for local taxis or autos. But, today people sit on their sofas and book a taxi or a cab through their smartphones. And such bookings are possible only through mobile apps where these bookings are then accepted or rejected by drivers using the Uber driver app clone.

The biggest examples of companies launching such apps are Ola and Uber that are used by thousands of people every day. People prefer travelling by these cabs only because the fare is less as compared to the local ones. With the ride hailing companies gaining over the market, the other local taxi associations started protesting nationwide. Would you like to know why and what were the strikes about?

Different Protestations – At a glance!

SEWA

Very few of us are aware of the protestation carried out by an association called Challak Shakti in Delhi. These taxi drivers planned to launch their own-taxi hailing app called SEWA which would be the biggest rival for Ola and Uber in India. This initiative was taken only to reduce the earnings from these big ride railing companies and for the local drivers to sustain their business. Along with this, other service providers were contracted for customer service, operations, marketing and much more. The biggest advantage of this initiative is that the drivers have to pay just 700 Rupees a month whereas Ola and Uber charge their drivers about 25 percent commission. They have already begun these services in April 2017. Only cash will be accepted during the initial stages and would then later introduce the other various different modes of payment. Over here, the transaction amount would directly go into the driver’s account and there would be nothing called commission in between.

The other benefit the user gets is that they can use the feature called “Hail and go” where the person is able to book a cab without signing in. Once the driver picks up the person, he/she can then disclose their details and the meter then starts running. The biggest advantage is that there is no surge pricing and other auto rickshaw drivers and taxi people have decided to enter this union too. As per the figures stated online, SEWA has already begun giving a tough competition to these huge companies.

Other Unions

Looking at the concept and success of SEWA, there have been many other associations of Ola and Uber who have already planned to launch their app where one such place is Bangalore. More than 8000 drivers have already launched this with the support of Karnataka CM, Kumaraswamy. Tanveer Pasha, the president of these taxi associations has said that the app will start functioning in a month and will be live soon. Looking at this, two Mumbai taxi unions have also decided to launch their own taxi driver app. With the help of such apps, the users will now be able to book the yellow and black taxis at any place they are located.  So, this is how the local taxis are planning to come back in action.

Reliance Jio Cabs

One of the biggest industries in the world, Reliance, has also decided to launch their own ride hailing service by this year end. The latest news is that they have already ordered 600 cars for this and has roped in E&Y, a consulting firm to come up with different pricing strategies. The company has already begun launching their services in Bangalore and Chennai and will then later move towards Delhi and Mumbai after its success here.

In India, there has been tough competition by these associations with Ola and Uber and these people are thus dominating the market slowly and gradually through their own apps developed from the Uber clone for drivers. Let us hope that this change benefits everyone in the future!
